Don’t Wait To Hit Rock Bottom Before Deciding To Lose Unwanted Weight

If you keep postponing or avoiding a “hell yes” decision to lose unwanted weight once and for all, this post is for you.

Here’s my call to action:  Challenge yourself to commit to the health and well-being of future you.  TODAY!

Here’s why that’s so important.

Every decision and choice you make today is building the you of tomorrow, next week, next month, next year and even decades from now.

When it comes to your physical weight and that nagging mental weight you’ve been carrying for years about your body and your relationship to food, it’s time to lose it ALL!

How to begin even though your inner critic tries to stop you.

The first step in losing the physical and mental weight once and for all is the simple act of committing to begin.

But be prepared!

Your harsh inner critic will try to tell you that it’s too late, impossible, not worth the effort, a pie in the sky dream. Just count on it trying to dissuade you from risking your time, emotional energy and money on my Its Never Too Late weight loss program.

To counteract the influence of your harsh inner critic, you will need to develop an internal language of commitment.

This will require you to challenge your default negativity bias.

We’re all hardwired toward a negativity bias, so now what?

As I’ve shared in previous posts, your brain is hardwired with a natural negativity bias.  A better safe than sorry default decision making perspective that usually lands you on the NO square..

But, 21st century neuroscientists tell us that our brains are plastic, changeable, and always open for rewiring up until the end of life.

Good news for us!  We can retrain the brain to think new thoughts that better serve the goals and results we desire, even if we’re feeling fearful.

You can override your natural tendency to think negative thoughts.  Just recognize that the litany of what appear to be “protective” thoughts are nothing more than a vestige of our ancestral programming.

So let’s get to work cultivating your “hell yes” attitude and the confidence to take the risk even though you may be hesitant.

Build your confidence by identifying with a growth mindset.

Where does confidence come from?

Some people think it comes from having achieved or succeeded in an endeavor in your past.  That you’ve “proven” to yourself in some way that you’re talented, insightful, capable.  You have evidence.  You lean on that evidence as rock solid proof.

Professionally and socially you might think of yourself as a confidence ninja.  You’ve met with success after success. You’ve overcome challenges.  You know how to do life.

But, when you think about your weight loss/dieting history, your confidence in your ability to find peace and freedom around food, your body and your weight just tanks.

Do you stay tangled in any thought loops like like these?   I’ve tried so many times before.  I just can’t keep it off.  I can’t take the humiliation of another failure. Yo-yo dieting has wrecked my metabolism. I give up.  I’m just a hopeless mess.  Who am I kidding, weight loss is impossible for me.  If I could lose weight and maintain, I would have done it by now.

Here’s what I want you understand.  Confidence does not come from a history of past successes.  It’s simply an organic outgrowth of how we DECIDE to think.  Lack of confidence is a result of stinkin’ thinkin’!

Changing how we think is simple in concept, but it takes awareness, practice and repetition to turn new thoughts into fuel to propel us toward our dreams..

Deciding that you can and want to grow, change and develop is all you need to build the confidence to get to “hell yes.”

Cultivate your ” hell yes” attitude with powerful new thoughts that generate feelings of potential and growth.

Confidence arises from your thoughts about today, tomorrow and the future YOU.

Interpreting setbacks and failures as just part of the process, without harsh judgement or recriminations, is key.

Actually creating new thoughts is where the rubber meets the road.  Just follow these easy steps.

Step 1:  Do an inventory of your negative thoughts about your body, your weight, food, weight loss.  Write a thought download about any aspect of your resistance to committing to losing weight now.

This thought download will become a snapshot and a record of of all the unhelpful thoughts that have been holding you back or undermining progress.

Let this list contains thoughts that you may believe are true.  That sound true so they must be true.

BUT THEY’RE NOT!   They are poisonous thoughts that suck you into inaction like quicksand.

Step 2:  Make a list of the opposite positive thought for every negative thought you listed.  Not all will be believable or resonate. But I assure you, within these new thoughts are some gems.

Step 3:  Notice which thoughts ignite a “hell yes” feeling, or at least glowing embers that can be fanned into “hell yes.”.

Step 4:  Start practicing those new thoughts to rewire your brain so they become easier to think.  It’s possible to install new default thoughts with continuous practice.

If this is hard for you do do by yourself, I’m here to help you figure it out.

Your “hell yes” attitude is the ticket to peace and freedom around your body, your weight and food.

I designed the It’s Never Too Late Weight Loss Coaching program to teach you how to identify unhelpful thoughts and “install” new ones that motivate and inspire you.
